Serifos is located between Sifnos and Kythnos. Its wild beauty will fascinate you: rocky land and rugged beautiful coastlines with leeward bays and sandy beaches. The history of the island was shaped by the existence of major iron ore and mineral deposits underneath the barren soil. From ancient times to the mid-20th century, the local economy was based on mining and the processing of minerals. The mines closed in 1963 the life of the inhabitants changed rapidly until they finally immigrated.  

Even though it has become a tourist destination, the island still preserves its authenticity till nowadays. The locals are friendly and their hospitality will warm your heart. Chora, the capital of the island, will fascinate you with its Castle, whitewashed houses, narrow streets, beautiful courtyards and traditional churches.

How to get there:

The island is connected to Piraeus by ferry (the journey lasts 4.5 hours) or speedboats (the journey lasts 2.5 hours). From Serifos you can get the ship to Sifnos, Milos, Kimolos, Ios, Amorgos, Anafi, Syros, Naxos, Santorini and other islands of the Cyclades. From Milos, you can also get the ship to Crete. The frequency of the itineraries varies according to the season.
